Meet John Popilock
John M. Popilock is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience in complex civil litigation. He formerly led the Workers’ Compensation Subrogation Group at a prominent national subrogation law firm. Over the last thirty years, Mr. Popilock has focused on multi-party construction accident cases and product liability issues, representing both workers’ compensation insurers and individuals involved in severe workplace injury claims.
He has thoroughly investigated thousands of workplace incidents and uncovered hazardous equipment and unsafe construction practices. These efforts have resulted in the recovery of tens of millions of subrogation dollars for insurers of workers in high-risk environments. Known for his advocacy skills, Mr. Popilock has successfully led over twenty-five complex cases to verdict, serving as lead counsel in more than a dozen state and federal courts nationwide.
John graduated with honors from Temple University in 1991 with a dual degree in Political Science and Philosophy and earned his Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1994. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Popilock has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice in numerous state and federal courts around the country.
Mr. Popilock is often invited to speak to workers’ compensation insurers, risk management experts, and other professional groups across the country, including the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP), the Property Loss Research Bureau (PLRB), and the National Workers’ Compensation Insurance ExecuSummit.
His presentations focus on the specialized challenges of workers’ compensation subrogation. Additionally, he regularly conducts lectures for attorneys, judges, and government agencies on investigating workplace machinery and construction accidents, as well as on the trial strategies needed to handle these complex cases effectively. Mr. Popilock has also authored numerous articles on subrogation and trial tactics for prominent national insurance industry publications.
